William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English playwright and poet. Author of famous tragedies such as "Hamlet", "Othello", "Macbeth" and "Romeo and Juliet", he was considered one of the greatest literary figures in the English language.

Shakespeare wrote his works for a small theater in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Four hundred years later his plays still enchant audiences around the world. Recognized by his phrase: "to be or not to be that is the question" illustrates a dilemma between living or dying.
